A magenta department stack of layers on black, what LTFI is as hired operations not installed software

What LTFI Is, and What You Do Not Install

What LTFI is: hire a department, not a box you install. Site, host, identity, and on-call on infrastructure Kief Studio operates. You own name, content, data, and custom code.

LTFI is a hired department that already runs your website, hosting, email, CRM, analytics, identity, and the night shift. You do not install it on a laptop. Kief Studio operates that stack. You keep the business: the name, the words, the data, and the custom code written for you unless a LICENSE file says a library belongs to someone else.

Kief Studio is two people, me and Brian. We work from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. We have been building together since 2012. Founders who cannot staff a ten-person web, host, identity, and on-call team hire that stack as a unit. We run what we recommend. We do not hand over a PDF and leave. Current commercial terms live on ltfi.ai.

LTFI is Layered Transformer Framework Intelligence in formal copy: the method that lets a two-person studio ship like a much larger team. The practical fact is simpler. You hire the department.

The hiring problem, before the acronym

Most shops do not fail because they cannot find a designer. They fail because the site, the host, the mailbox, the login system, and the person who wakes up at 3am live in four different companies. When something breaks, each vendor can honestly say it was not them. You still have a dark storefront and a thread of tickets.

Picture a Tuesday in Worcester. The card machine waits on a page that never loads. You call the designer, who says the host is down. You call the host, who says the identity provider is rejecting logins. You call the identity provider, who wants a ticket number from the host. Nobody is lying. Nobody owns the night. That is the problem LTFI is built to absorb.

LTFI is Kief Studio's managed digital operations tier. It is one hire for that whole layer. The studio line is two people, output of fourteen, more than forty custom tools built with LTFI, and client relationships measured in years. Those numbers describe capacity. They are not a software license you download.

If you have ever compared monthly quotes and still could not tell who owns the server login, you already know the real question. On a short project, you often keep the keys and the next freelancer inherits a mess. On this model, we hold the operational login and you hold the business. Ask that before you compare numbers. This site does not publish a price list. Look at ltfi.ai for current terms.

Magenta layers for host, site, identity, and night shift as one hire, what LTFI is
Host, write, publish, patch, and pick up at 3am are one job when they share logs. Splitting them is how you get four vendors and no owner.

What you do not install

You do not become the sysadmin of our platform. A sysadmin is the person who patches the box, restores the backup, and turns the machine off. You do not get a disc, a zip file, or a weekend of "just stand this up." The framework name is public. How the method works on the inside stays off this site, on purpose. You are buying an operated department, not a product you babysit.

That is why a proposal that includes a binary you run in-house and still calls it LTFI is not this offering. If you wanted to own the night shift yourself, you would hire staff. If you want us to own the night shift, you hire the department. The split is the same one I walk through in retainer versus project. A project ends when the invoice is paid. A retainer has a named owner when the site is still supposed to work in February.

CISA's shopping guidance for buyers is useful here even though it was written for software. The Secure by Demand guide from August 2024 tells you to ask whether logging is built in, not bolted on after you sign. When one team holds the site, the host, and the identity provider, the logs already sit in one place. That does not make us your auditor. It does mean you are not begging four vendors for four different files after an outage.

What you do own

You own the customer-facing name. You own the words and media you publish. You own the business data. You own custom code written for you in the private code home, except where a LICENSE file says a library is ours or third-party. A LICENSE file is the note in a software folder that says who actually owns that library. If it names someone else, that piece does not transfer just because we wrote a page around it.

Who holds which login is the practical test. Your staff still log into the tools they use every day. We hold the operational login that patches, restores, and turns a box off. If turning the site off required deleting your personal account, the identities were never separate. NIST made that point about shared passwords in the agent world: you cannot prove who acted. The same rule applies to a host. If five people share the only admin password, the log names a group, not a person.

That is also why we care about what owning the stack means for client data. Client data sits on infrastructure we control, not in a tenant we cannot see. Translate that to a desk: when a backup has to be restored, we do not open a ticket with a cloud brand and wait for a status page. We open the backup we already run.

Magenta keys for name, content, and data on black, what you own when you hire LTFI
You keep the name, the content, the data, and the custom code. The platform you do not babysit stays operated.

What LTFI is not

LTFI is not a website builder you click together on a Sunday. A builder leaves you as the operator. LTFI is not a ranking plugin. A plugin does not pick up the phone when the site is dark. LTFI is not a promise that citations appear because a department exists. Citation still needs distinct pages, which is the rest of this library.

LTFI is not a substitute for an independent SOC 2 attester if you need one. An attester is an outside firm that signs a report. We can shorten evidence collection because we already run the stack. We cannot audit ourselves into a CPA report. That gap is why I wrote cost savings from consolidating compliance audits. One operator can make the binder thinner. The attester still has to be someone else.

LTFI is not a SaaS you log into as the operator of the platform, and it is not a consulting shop that hands you a PDF. It is not an agency that subcontracts the security and infrastructure pieces and hopes the subcontractors talk to each other. If you need a mid-market security engagement that is not this managed tier, that is a different conversation. JDR Security Solutions is a separate venture for that kind of work. Do not mash the two into one quote.

The formal expansion is Layered Transformer Framework Intelligence. Community shorthand exists and does not belong here. I will not put it in this article.

No install disc, a managed stack instead, what LTFI is not a download
If the proposal includes a binary you run in-house as "LTFI," it is not this offering. This offering is operated for you.

What a week looks like when the department is already hired

Monday is usually content and the public site: a page that needs to ship, a form that should not lose submissions, and a certificate that should not expire because nobody owned the calendar.

Tuesday is identity: who can log in, whose access expired, and which shared mailbox still holds a password it should not. Wednesday is the unglamorous host work: patches, backups you can actually restore, and disk that is not quietly full. Restore means we have already proven the backup opens, not that a file named backup sits on a drive.

Thursday is the work people call "AI" when they mean "please stop making me copy this between three tools." We put agents on small jobs first, with their own logins, the same way I described in what a non-human identity for an AI agent is. Looking good in a meeting is not the same as being ready to refund a customer's card. So start with work where a mistake is easy to fix.

Friday is the night-shift test. If this breaks at 3am, who picks up, and which log do they open. That is the Support pillar on kief.studio without turning it into a slogan. None of that requires you to staff a fourteen-person department. It does require one owner on our side and one owner on yours.

The two-person studio model is why the math is two people shipping like fourteen. Fred Brooks documented the communication problem in 1975: adding people to a late software project makes it later. A team of 3 has 3 communication paths. A team of 7 has 21. The method is how we keep the path count low. The hire is still a department, not a miracle.

If you are comparing this to four cheaper vendors, read vendor consolidation for regulated industries before you add a fifth. Coordination has a cost that never shows up on the first invoice. Who owns the site, the host, and the login is the website version of the same split. Keep the domain registrar in your name. Do not let a project freelancer hold the only copy of the DNS.

Where this sits next to the rest of the family

Kief Studio is the parent: Build, Protect, Automate, Support. LTFI is the managed operations tier inside that studio. kief.dev is tools and engineering writing, including the lockfile and hygiene notes we actually use. Brian's architecture write-up lives on briansgagne.com when the question is how a control is built.

If you want someone else to hold the night shift, that is the hire. If you want a download, this is the wrong article. If a launch domain is not in a signed brief, it is not part of this definition. Use ltfi.ai as the product home. Do not merge it with a domain we have not described.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is LTFI in one sentence?

LTFI is Kief Studio's managed digital operations: you hire the department that runs site, host, identity, and on-call. You do not install a product.

Do I own the software?

No. You own name, content, data, and custom code except where a LICENSE file says otherwise. The platform stays ours to operate.

Who holds the server login?

We hold the operational login that patches and restores. You hold the business identity. If those were the same password, you would not have a department. You would have a shared account.

Does hiring LTFI replace a compliance auditor?

No. It can make evidence easier because one team holds the logs. An independent attester is still independent.

Is this the same as a website builder or a ranking plugin?

No. A builder leaves you as the operator. A plugin does not pick up at 3am. This hire is the operated stack, including the night shift.

Where do I look for current terms?

ltfi.ai is the public product home. A domain that is not in a signed brief is not described here.
